No code? Your money comes back.

Nextdoor wants a phone number, and it does not take no for an answer. No code, no charge: nothing is billed for a number that stays silent. So borrow one: choose a market in SMS For U, give the number to Nextdoor, and the Nextdoor code arrives in your account by itself, seconds after Nextdoor sends it. 2,400 services sit in the same catalogue, with numbers from markets across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

How you get your code

  1. Open SMS For U and search for Nextdoor.
  2. Pick a country from the list the app shows for Nextdoor right now: that list is Nextdoor's own.
  3. Confirm, and the number for Nextdoor is yours straight away.
  4. Enter it at Nextdoor (the sign-up form) and ask Nextdoor for the code.
  5. The Nextdoor code appears in SMS For U on its own. Copy it back into Nextdoor.

Why a phone number is asked for

Nextdoor asks for a phone number to show that a profile belongs to somebody, and to keep a way back in when the password is gone. Nextdoor asks for it on the sign-up form, before the account exists at all. The number goes in at: the sign-up form. Nextdoor normally asks for the number once and does not come back to it afterwards.

What the code looks like

Nextdoor sends a short numeric code by SMS. You do not have to go looking for it: the Nextdoor code drops into your SMS For U account by itself, seconds after Nextdoor lets it go. The window Nextdoor allows is short, so do not leave the code sitting in your account. One number normally carries one Nextdoor account.

What can go wrong

Nextdoor accepts numbers from many countries but not from all of them. Which countries work for Nextdoor changes over time, because Nextdoor adjusts its checks and because the available ranges of numbers change. That is the honest state of it: we can hand you a number, we cannot make Nextdoor take it. Nothing here commits Nextdoor to an outcome, and no hit rate is on display: a published figure would be wrong long before you read it.

Countries we serve

Numbers for Nextdoor come from the 50 markets listed below, and the same list stands behind every other service in the catalogue. Read it as where we work, not as a statement that each of them is free for Nextdoor at this moment: ranges of numbers are used up and refilled through the day. Which of them you can really pick for Nextdoor is on the screen in the app where you choose one, and that screen is the only current answer.

Common questions

How do I get a Nextdoor verification code without my own SIM card?

Open SMS For U, search for Nextdoor and pick a country. You get a real phone number, you enter it at Nextdoor (the sign-up form), and the code Nextdoor sends appears in your SMS For U account by itself. No SIM card is involved, and the Nextdoor number is not yours to keep.

How fast does the Nextdoor code arrive?

The Nextdoor code appears in your account within seconds of Nextdoor sending it. How long Nextdoor itself takes is up to Nextdoor and to the country the number comes from, which is why nothing here is worded as a promise.

What happens if no Nextdoor code arrives?

You do not pay for a Nextdoor number that brought no code. Cancel the order in the app and the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. That is the whole rule, and it is why a failed Nextdoor attempt costs nothing: no code, no charge.

Which countries can I use for Nextdoor?

Nextdoor numbers come from the 50 markets listed on this page. Which of them can be picked for Nextdoor at this moment is on the country screen in the app: that list moves through the day, and a page in a search index cannot keep up with it.

Can I use the same number for Nextdoor again later?

A used Nextdoor number is not reserved for you indefinitely. Nextdoor normally does not come back to it after sign-up, but if you need lasting access to the Nextdoor account, use a number of your own.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order: a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded, and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
