No code? Your money comes back.

There is a phone-number wall in front of IRCTC, and this is the way through it. No code, no charge: a number that brings none is never billed. Rent one for the moment you need it: choose where it should come from, type it into IRCTC, and read the IRCTC code straight out of your SMS For U account. Behind that sit 2,400 services and numbers bought in markets on four continents.

How you get your code

  1. Start in SMS For U by looking up IRCTC.
  2. The app lists the countries open for IRCTC at this moment; choose one of those.
  3. Say yes, and a working number is on your screen immediately.
  4. Hand that number to IRCTC at the registration screen on first start, then trigger the code.
  5. Watch it land in SMS For U by itself, and paste it back where IRCTC asked.

Why a phone number is asked for

IRCTC is a single login with a lot behind it, so the number is how it proves it is you and how you get back in. IRCTC asks for it on the sign-up form, before the account exists at all. The number goes in at: the registration screen on first start. IRCTC normally asks for the number once and does not come back to it afterwards.

What the code looks like

IRCTC sends a short numeric code by SMS. The IRCTC code shows up in your SMS For U account on its own, within seconds of IRCTC sending it. Nothing to refresh and nothing to forward. A IRCTC code is only valid briefly, so enter it promptly. One number normally carries one IRCTC account.

What can go wrong

IRCTC accepts numbers from many countries but not from all of them. Which countries work for IRCTC changes over time, because IRCTC adjusts its checks and because the available ranges of numbers change. That is the honest state of it: we can hand you a number, we cannot make IRCTC take it. Nothing here commits IRCTC to an outcome, and no hit rate is on display: a published figure would be wrong long before you read it.

Countries we serve

Below are the 50 markets we hold numbers in, IRCTC included. Treat them as our footprint rather than as today’s shelf: ranges run dry and are topped up again while you read this, so a market listed here may be unavailable for IRCTC within the hour. The country screen in the app is where that question is answered honestly for IRCTC, because it is the only thing that updates as fast as the ranges do.

Common questions

How do I get an IRCTC verification code without my own SIM card?

Open SMS For U, search for IRCTC and pick a country. You get a real phone number, you enter it at IRCTC (the registration screen on first start), and the code IRCTC sends appears in your SMS For U account by itself. No SIM card is involved, and the IRCTC number is not yours to keep.

How fast does the IRCTC code arrive?

The IRCTC code appears in your account within seconds of IRCTC sending it. How long IRCTC itself takes is up to IRCTC and to the country the number comes from, which is why nothing here is worded as a promise.

What happens if no IRCTC code arrives?

You do not pay for an IRCTC number that brought no code. Cancel the order in the app and the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. That is the whole rule, and it is why a failed IRCTC attempt costs nothing: no code, no charge.

Which countries can I use for IRCTC?

IRCTC numbers come from the 50 markets listed on this page. Which of them can be picked for IRCTC at this moment is on the country screen in the app: that list moves through the day, and a page in a search index cannot keep up with it.

Can I use the same number for IRCTC again later?

A used IRCTC number is not reserved for you indefinitely. IRCTC normally does not come back to it after sign-up, but if you need lasting access to the IRCTC account, use a number of your own.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order: a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded, and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
