No code? Your money comes back.

Whatnot sends a one-time code to confirm your phone number, for sellers during sign up or in the seller dashboard. When the Whatnot verification code is not received, the number is usually wrong, the text is delayed or blocked, or the number cannot get texts from short codes. Check the number first, wait a few minutes, then ask for a new code.

Where Whatnot asks for your number

Whatnot sends a one-time code (OTP) when a seller signs up and when a number is confirmed in the seller dashboard. You type the code into the app to confirm that the number is yours.

Buyers can be asked to verify too. The code always comes by text message to the number on the account.

Code not received: what to check

  1. Check the number Look at every digit and at the country code. A missing or extra digit is the most common reason a code never arrives.
  2. Check that the phone can get texts No reception, airplane mode, a full inbox or a blocked sender all stop the text. Some plans block texts from short codes.
  3. Wait, then ask once more Give the first text a few minutes. Asking many times in a row can delay the next code.
  4. Try another number If the number cannot get the code, use another number that receives texts, then confirm it in the app.

Changing the number on your account

  • Sellers change the number themselves in their account settings.
  • Buyers ask Whatnot support in the app to update the phone number.
  • Be ready to confirm details: Whatnot may ask you to confirm your account before it changes the number.

Reaching Whatnot support

Whatnot does not offer phone support. Open your account in the app, scroll down to the contact option and pick the topic that fits. You get a confirmation email with a ticket number, and Whatnot says it answers within 48 hours.

No confirmation email? Look in your spam folder before you send a second request.

When a second number makes sense

A separate number keeps your private number out of a selling account. It has to receive texts when Whatnot asks again, so plan for that before you use a number for one code only.

Common questions

How does Whatnot send the verification code?

By text message, as a one-time code to the number on the account. Sellers get it during sign up or in the seller dashboard.

Can I call Whatnot about a missing code?

No. Whatnot does not offer phone support. Use the contact option in your account in the app.

How do I change my phone number on Whatnot?

Sellers change it in their account settings. Buyers ask Whatnot support in the app to update it.

Will Whatnot ever ask me for my code?

No. Whatnot says it never asks for one-time codes by email or text. Do not pass the code on.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order: a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded, and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
