No code? Your money comes back.

There is a phone-number wall in front of Tokopedia, and this is the way through it. No code, no charge: a number that brings none is never billed. Rent one for the moment you need it: choose where it should come from, type it into Tokopedia, and read the Tokopedia code straight out of your SMS For U account. Behind that sit 1,400 services and numbers bought in markets on four continents.

How you get your code

  1. Look Tokopedia up in the SMS For U catalogue.
  2. Take a country from the ones the app is offering for Tokopedia today.
  3. Confirm the order; the Tokopedia number is live from that second.
  4. Type it in at the sign-up screen on Tokopedia and ask to be sent the code.
  5. The code turns up in your SMS For U account unprompted — copy it into Tokopedia and you are through.

Why a phone number is asked for

Tokopedia wants a phone number so buyers and sellers can be reached about an order, and so one person does not open an unlimited number of accounts. Tokopedia asks for it on the sign-up form, before the account exists at all. The number goes in at: the sign-up screen. Tokopedia can ask for the same number again later — on a new device, after a password change or during a routine check. Bear that in mind before you tie an account to a number you will not have access to in a month.

What the code looks like

Tokopedia sends a short numeric code by SMS, and on some accounts as a voice call instead. The message from Tokopedia arrives in your account unaided — no refreshing, no forwarding, and no second device involved in reading the Tokopedia code. Codes from Tokopedia go stale fast; use it as soon as it lands rather than later. One number normally carries one Tokopedia account.

What can go wrong

Tokopedia accepts numbers from many countries but not from all of them. Which countries work for Tokopedia changes over time, because Tokopedia adjusts its checks and because the available ranges of numbers change. That is the honest state of it — we can hand you a number, we cannot make Tokopedia take it. Read none of this as Tokopedia committing to anything. We keep success numbers off the page on purpose: they age faster than the page does.

Countries we serve

We work in the 50 markets set out below, and a Tokopedia number can come from any of them at one time or another. That is a map of our reach, not a stock report: what is free for Tokopedia moves hour by hour as ranges are spent and replenished. Before you count on a particular market for Tokopedia, look at the country screen in the app, which is the one place this question has a current answer.

Common questions

How do I get a Tokopedia verification code without my own SIM card?

Open SMS For U, search for Tokopedia and pick a country. You get a real phone number, you enter it at Tokopedia (the sign-up screen), and the code Tokopedia sends appears in your SMS For U account by itself. No SIM card is involved, and the Tokopedia number is not yours to keep.

How fast does the Tokopedia code arrive?

The Tokopedia code appears in your account within seconds of Tokopedia sending it. How long Tokopedia itself takes is up to Tokopedia and to the country the number comes from, which is why nothing here is worded as a promise.

What happens if no Tokopedia code arrives?

You do not pay for a Tokopedia number that brought no code. Cancel the order in the app and the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. That is the whole rule, and it is why a failed Tokopedia attempt costs nothing: no code, no charge.

Which countries can I use for Tokopedia?

Tokopedia numbers come from the 50 markets listed on this page. Which of them can be picked for Tokopedia at this moment is on the country screen in the app: that list moves through the day, and a page in a search index cannot keep up with it.

Can I use the same number for Tokopedia again later?

Sometimes. Tokopedia can ask for the same number again on a new device, and a used Tokopedia number is not reserved for you indefinitely. If you need lasting access to a Tokopedia account, use a number of your own.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
