No code? Your money comes back.

Airbnb wants a phone number, and it does not take no for an answer. No code, no charge: nothing is billed for a number that stays silent. So borrow one — choose a market in SMS For U, give the number to Airbnb, and the Airbnb code arrives in your account by itself, seconds after Airbnb sends it. 1,400 services sit in the same catalogue, with numbers from markets across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

How you get your code

  1. Search Airbnb inside SMS For U.
  2. Choose the market you want the Airbnb number to come from, out of whatever the app currently offers.
  3. One confirmation later the number belongs to you.
  4. Put it into Airbnb at the sign-up form, or Account → Personal info and request your code.
  5. Airbnb texts it over, SMS For U catches it for you, and you copy it across.

Why a phone number is asked for

Airbnb wants a phone number so buyers and sellers can be reached about an order, and so one person does not open an unlimited number of accounts. Airbnb asks for it on the sign-up form, before the account exists at all. The number goes in at: the sign-up form, or Account → Personal info. Airbnb can ask for the same number again later — on a new device, after a password change or during a routine check. Bear that in mind before you tie an account to a number you will not have access to in a month.

What the code looks like

Airbnb sends a short numeric code by SMS, and on some accounts as a voice call instead. Whatever Airbnb texts to the number is delivered into your SMS For U account automatically, a few seconds behind Airbnb, with nothing to forward. The window Airbnb allows is short, so do not leave the code sitting in your account. One number can usually serve more than one Airbnb account, although Airbnb may limit that.

Countries we serve

Below are the 50 markets we hold numbers in, Airbnb included. Treat them as our footprint rather than as today’s shelf: ranges run dry and are topped up again while you read this, so a market listed here may be unavailable for Airbnb within the hour. The country screen in the app is where that question is answered honestly for Airbnb, because it is the only thing that updates as fast as the ranges do.

Common questions

How do I get an Airbnb verification code without my own SIM card?

Open SMS For U, search for Airbnb and pick a country. You get a real phone number, you enter it at Airbnb (the sign-up form, or Account → Personal info), and the code Airbnb sends appears in your SMS For U account by itself. No SIM card is involved, and the Airbnb number is not yours to keep.

How fast does the Airbnb code arrive?

The Airbnb code appears in your account within seconds of Airbnb sending it. How long Airbnb itself takes is up to Airbnb and to the country the number comes from, which is why nothing here is worded as a promise.

What happens if no Airbnb code arrives?

You do not pay for an Airbnb number that brought no code. Cancel the order in the app and the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. That is the whole rule, and it is why a failed Airbnb attempt costs nothing: no code, no charge.

Which countries can I use for Airbnb?

Airbnb numbers come from the 50 markets listed on this page. Which of them can be picked for Airbnb at this moment is on the country screen in the app: that list moves through the day, and a page in a search index cannot keep up with it.

Can I use the same number for Airbnb again later?

Sometimes. Airbnb can ask for the same number again on a new device, and a used Airbnb number is not reserved for you indefinitely. If you need lasting access to an Airbnb account, use a number of your own.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
