No code? Your money comes back.

A phone number from Portugal starts with +351. No code, no charge: a Portuguese number that never receives one costs you nothing. Pick Portugal in SMS For U, enter the +351 number where the service asks for one, and the code appears in your account seconds after it is sent. Behind Portugal stands a catalogue of 1,400 services, and you never have to be in Portugal to use one of its numbers.

How you get your code

  1. Open SMS For U and search for the service you want to verify.
  2. Pick Portugal from the list of countries the app shows for that service.
  3. Confirm, and the number from Portugal is yours straight away.
  4. Enter the number from Portugal where the service asks for a phone number and request the code.
  5. The code appears in SMS For U on its own. Copy it across.

Services

These are the services people most often verify with a +351 number from Portugal, and they are the ones the app puts first. Each has a page of its own explaining what it wants a number for and when it asks. Behind them the catalogue carries 1,400 services, most of which also take a Portuguese number.

Why a phone number is asked for

Numbers from Portugal carry the dialling code +351, so the service you are signing up to sees a Portuguese number and treats the account accordingly. A +351 number matters wherever a service varies its content or its shipping options by country, and it matters nowhere else — for a plain sign-up the only thing that counts is that the Portuguese number receives the SMS. You do not have to be in Portugal yourself: a +351 number is reachable wherever you are. Which services can be verified with a Portuguese number at a given moment changes through the day, because ranges of numbers are used up and refilled, so that list lives in the app rather than on this page.

Common questions

What is the dialling code of Portugal?

+351. Every number we hand out for Portugal begins with it, and that is what the service you are signing up to sees.

Do I have to be in Portugal to use the number?

No. A +351 number is reachable wherever you are. The only thing that has to be true is that the service you are verifying accepts a number from Portugal.

Which services work with a number from Portugal?

The ones listed on this page are the ones people reach for most with a +351 number; the catalogue carries 1,400 in total. Which of them can be verified from Portugal at this moment is shown in the app, because that changes through the day.

What if no code arrives on my Portuguese number?

You do not pay for a Portuguese number that brought no code. Cancel the order in the app, and the payment is refunded once the cancellation is confirmed. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
