GuidesWhen the code does not arrive

No Tokopedia OTP? What to check first.

Kode OTP tidak masuk? Most of the time it is the number, not Tokopedia.

No code? Your money comes back.

When the Tokopedia OTP does not arrive, check three things before you request another: the number is in the right format (+62 and no leading 0), your line can receive texts where you are, and you have not asked for several codes in a row. Tokopedia can send its code by SMS or by call, ties one account to one number, and asks for the number again later.

How Tokopedia verifies your number

Tokopedia asks for your number on the sign-up screen and confirms it with a one-time code. The same number then stands for your account, and Tokopedia comes back to it later when it needs to confirm that it is you.

  1. Check the number on the screen Compare it digit by digit with the number you meant. One wrong digit sends the code to a stranger.
  2. Choose SMS if offered A call needs a line that can answer. A text is easier to read again and copy.
  3. Wait before resending Give the first code a few minutes. A new request can make the older code invalid.
  4. Contact Tokopedia If nothing works, reach Tokopedia's customer care through its help centre and say which step failed: sign-up, login or a change to your account.

Signing up from outside Indonesia

Tokopedia is an Indonesian marketplace, so an Indonesian number is the natural match for it. If you are abroad and need a code on an Indonesian number, the web app shows whether there are numbers for Tokopedia right now, with the success rate before you pay.

  • Take the SMS route. Our numbers receive texts only; a call will not reach them.
  • No code after about two minutes? Switch to another number in the app at no extra charge.
  • Add an e-mail address to the account right after sign-up. Tokopedia asks for the number again later, and a temporary number is closed after one code.

Common questions

Why is my Tokopedia OTP not coming (kode OTP tidak masuk)?

Most often the number is typed with a 0 after +62, the signal is weak, or several codes were requested in a row. Fix the format, wait a few minutes and request one code.

How do I write an Indonesian mobile number with the country code?

Replace the leading 0 with +62. A number written 0812 3456 7890 at home becomes +62 812 3456 7890.

Can two Tokopedia accounts share one number?

No. Tokopedia ties one number to one account, so a second account needs a second number.

Will Tokopedia ask for my number again?

Yes, it comes back to the number when it needs to confirm it is you. Keep the number, or add another way to sign in while you still can.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
