WhatsApp on a second screen? Link it, no SIM needed.

Your phone stays the key. The other devices borrow its account.

No code? Your money comes back.

To open your own WhatsApp on a computer, tablet or second phone, you do not need a SIM card or an SMS code there. You link the device: scan a QR code with your main phone, or type an eight-character code on it. Up to four devices can be linked to one account, and they keep working while your main phone is off.

Linked device or new account: the difference

Linked deviceSeparate account
Same chats as your phoneYesNo, a new profile
SIM card on that deviceNot neededNeeds a number of its own
Code by SMSNone: QR or link codeYes, at registration
Works when the main phone is offYes, for up to 14 days of phone inactivityIndependent
Typical usePC at work, tablet at homeKeeping work and private apart

Linked devices can be a computer (WhatsApp for Windows or Mac, or WhatsApp Web), an Android tablet, an iPad, a watch or a companion phone. They cannot become the main device; only an Android tablet can, if you register the account on it directly.

Linking WhatsApp on a computer

  1. Open WhatsApp on the computer The Windows or Mac app, or WhatsApp Web in a supported browser. A QR code appears.
  2. On your main phone: Linked devices Android: the menu, then Linked devices → Link a device. iPhone: Settings → Linked devices → Link device.
  3. Confirm it is you Fingerprint, face or the PIN that unlocks your phone.
  4. Scan the QR code Point the phone at the computer screen. The chats start syncing.

Linking a tablet or second phone

  1. Install WhatsApp on the second device From the official app store. Open it and tap Agree and continue.
  2. Choose to link, not to register On a second Android phone open the menu and tap Link as companion device. A QR code appears.
  3. Scan from the main phone Linked devices → Link a device, unlock, scan. The second device then says This is a linked device in Settings.
  • Live location and broadcast lists do not work on linked devices yet.
  • If your main phone stays unused for more than 14 days, linked devices are logged out.
  • WhatsApp disconnects a linked device itself after 30 days without use.

When you need a separate account instead

Linking always shows the same account. For a second, independent WhatsApp you need a second number, and WhatsApp's rules are clear: register only a number you own, one that can receive SMS and calls.

  • A second SIM or eSIM in the same phone, or a phone of its own, is the stable way.
  • WhatsApp asks for that number again on every new phone, so a number that disappears after one code is the wrong choice here.
  • Usernames, as WhatsApp rolls them out, let you chat without showing the number, but the number is still required.

Common questions

Can I use WhatsApp on a PC without my phone?

Yes, after linking once. The computer keeps working while the phone is off, as long as you use WhatsApp on the phone at least every 14 days.

How do I open WhatsApp on another phone without a code?

Link it as a companion device: it shows a QR code that you scan with your main phone. No SMS code is involved.

Can I use one number on two WhatsApp phones?

Yes, as a main phone plus linked companion phones, up to four linked devices in total.

Can I log in to WhatsApp Web with my phone number instead of a QR code?

Yes. Choose Link with phone number on WhatsApp Web or Windows and enter the eight-character code on your main phone.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
