Four digits, one number per account, and a two-hour pause if you get it wrong too often.

No code? Your money comes back.

Vinted verifies your phone number in your profile under Settings → Security → 2-step verification, with a four-digit code by SMS. When Vinted phone verification is not working, the number is usually in the wrong format, already used on another Vinted account, or temporarily blocked after too many invalid attempts.

When Vinted asks you to verify a number

You can open a Vinted account without a phone number. The number comes later, as a verification step in your profile, and the app may prompt you to add it. Once verified, Vinted does not normally ask for it again.

  1. Open the security settings Tap your profile icon, then Settings → Security → 2-step verification.
  2. Enter your number and tap Send Use the international format, for example starting with +44 or +49, with no spaces.
  3. Type the four-digit code Give the text a few minutes to arrive, then enter the code and tap Verify.

One number per account

Vinted lets a phone number verify only one account. If you have an old second account on the same number, delete that one first. Then contact Vinted with the number, including its international code, and ask them to reset the verification for it.

  • Changing numbers: if your account already has a verified number, change it to the new one in the same settings.
  • Do not recognise the old number? Vinted's help centre has a separate route for that case.
  • A second account for a shop or a family member needs its own number.

Selling without sharing your number

Buyers and sellers on Vinted talk through the app's messages, so a buyer never needs your phone number. A buyer who asks for it, or for a code that just arrived on your phone, is a warning sign: see codes you did not request.

Common questions

How many digits is the Vinted verification code?

Four.

Why does Vinted say verification is disabled?

After too many invalid phone numbers, Vinted pauses verification for two hours. Check the number format and try again after the pause.

The number is right, but the Vinted code still does not come. Why?

Vinted's own advice is to wait a little longer and go through the steps again. Also look in your phone's filtered or spam messages, and make sure the line can receive texts from abroad, since the sender may not be local.

Can I use the same number on two Vinted accounts?

No. A number can be verified on one Vinted account only.

Do I need a phone number to sell on Vinted?

You can create the account without one, but Vinted asks you to verify a number in your profile's security settings.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
