TikTok verification code missing, unexpected or not working?

Three different problems, three different fixes. Find yours below.

No code? Your money comes back.

TikTok texts a six-digit code to the number you enter at sign-up or under Settings → Manage account → Phone. If it does not come, the number, a filter on your phone or a run of repeated requests is usually to blame. If a TikTok code arrives that you never requested, someone typed your number: do not pass the code on.

Where TikTok sends the code

New account
The number goes in on the sign-up screen and the code follows by SMS.
Existing account
Add or change it under Settings → Manage account → Phone.
What arrives
A text with a six-digit verification code and no link.
Later checks
TikTok rarely asks for the number again once it is confirmed.

TikTok code not arriving: what to check

  1. Read the number back Check the country code TikTok picked for you as well as the digits. A wrong country prefix sends the text to someone else's phone or nowhere.
  2. Look in filtered messages Many phones sort texts from unknown senders into a separate folder or a blocked list. The code may already be there.
  3. Wait a minute, then ask once more Codes usually land within seconds. One new request after a short pause is enough.
  4. Try e-mail if the screen offers it When SMS keeps failing and the sign-up screen lets you continue with an e-mail address, that route needs no text message at all.

A TikTok code you did not ask for

A TikTok verification code without a request means someone entered your number on TikTok. Sometimes it is a typo by a stranger; sometimes it is an attempt to sign into your account. Either way, the code is useless to them unless you hand it over.

  • Do not reply and do not forward the code, even to someone who claims to be from TikTok.
  • If the number belongs to your TikTok account, change your password and review your logged-in devices.
  • If messages keep coming, read what to do about unrequested codes.

Too many attempts

Each resend counts as another attempt, and TikTok, like most apps, slows down or pauses a number that asks too often. The message on screen varies, but the cure is the same: stop requesting and come back later.

TikTok numbers by country

If you would rather not put your personal number on a TikTok account, a temporary number can receive the sign-up code. These country pages show where numbers for TikTok are offered:

Common questions

How many digits does a TikTok verification code have?

Six. A message asking you to enter a longer code, or to click a link, is not a normal TikTok code.

Why did I get a TikTok code without requesting one?

Someone typed your number on TikTok, by mistake or to try to get into an account. Ignore it and never share it.

What should I do after too many attempts?

Stop requesting codes for a while. Extra requests during the pause do not help and can make it last longer.

Can I verify TikTok with a temporary number?

Yes, for the sign-up code. If no code comes within about two minutes, the app lets you switch to another number for free, and with no code at all you get your money back.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
