Temu and SHEIN text a verification code when you sign up with a phone number. If the code does not arrive, check the country code, your phone's spam filter and how often you pressed resend. If a Temu or SHEIN verification code arrives that you never asked for, someone entered your number: never pass it on.
Why Temu and SHEIN send codes
Both shops let you create an account with a phone number on the sign-up screen. The code proves the number reaches you, which makes it harder for one person to open many accounts.
| Temu | SHEIN | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you enter the number | The sign-up screen | The sign-up screen |
| What arrives | A six-digit code by SMS | A short numeric code by SMS |
| Asks for the number again later | Rarely | Rarely |
From our own fact sheets for both shops.
Temu or SHEIN code not arriving: what to check
- Country code: if the app pre-fills a country, check it, especially when you are abroad.
- Filtered texts: check the folder your phone uses for unknown or promotional senders.
- One resend only: wait about a minute after the first request before you ask again.
- E-mail instead: if the sign-up screen offers it, an e-mail address avoids the text entirely.
- Still nothing: switch networks or restart the phone, then request one fresh code.

A code you did not request
A SHEIN verification code text you did not trigger means someone typed your number into SHEIN. The same goes for Temu. Often it is a typo by another shopper. Sometimes it is the first half of a scam.
- The follow-up message: a stranger, a fake courier or a fake support agent asks you to read the code back. That code could let them sign in or sign up with your number.
- What to do: nothing. Do not reply, do not tap links, do not forward the code.
- If it is your account: change the password in the official app and check recent orders.

Using a number you do not hand out to shops
Neither shop needs your number for years: according to our fact sheets, both rarely ask again once the sign-up code is confirmed. That makes them a reasonable fit for a temporary number if you would rather keep your own off another marketing list.
- Pick Temu or SHEIN, then a country The app shows the success rate per country before you pay.
- Paste the number and request the code once The text appears in the app. If nothing shows within about two minutes, switch to another number at no extra cost.
- Add an e-mail and a password straight away The temporary number closes after the code. Order updates and password resets should go to an address you keep.

Common questions
Why did I get a Temu verification code?
Because someone entered your number on Temu. If it was not you, ignore the text and never share the code.
Why is my SHEIN verification code not arriving?
Check the country code, look in filtered messages, and wait a minute before one new request. Many requests in a row rarely help.
Can I sign up for Temu or SHEIN with e-mail instead?
If the sign-up screen offers an e-mail option, yes, and then no text code is involved.
Is a temporary number enough for Temu or SHEIN?
For the sign-up code, usually. Add an e-mail address to the account so later messages and resets reach you.
