No code? Your money comes back.

An Indian mobile number is +91 followed by ten digits. If you need an Indian phone number for an OTP while you are in the US or elsewhere, you can keep an Indian SIM active with roaming, or use a temporary Indian number that receives a single code. For anything tied to your identity or money, only your own Indian SIM will do.

How an Indian mobile number is built

India's country code is 91, and mobile numbers have ten digits. That is the numbering series the telecom regulator TRAI refers to when it discusses mobile and machine-to-machine numbers.

How to write it
In an international form+91 and the ten digits, for example +91 98xxx xxxxx
When +91 is already selectedOnly the ten digits, no 0 in front
In a messenger contactAlways with +91, so the app matches the right country

The x's are placeholders, not a real number.

Which services expect an Indian number

  • Apps built for the Indian market may offer only +91 in their country picker.
  • Messengers like WhatsApp and Telegram accept numbers from almost anywhere; an Indian number helps if your contacts are in India.
  • Not suitable: banks, UPI and wallet apps, Aadhaar and other identity or government services. A number there has to stay yours for years.

An Indian number for one OTP

  2. Check the success rate It is shown before you pay. A low rate means codes for this service reach Indian numbers less often at the moment.
  3. Enter the ten digits With +91 selected in the form, paste the number without a leading 0.
  4. Wait for the OTP in the app No message after about two minutes? Take another Indian number for free. No OTP at all means your money back.

Common questions

How do I get an Indian phone number for OTP?

Keep your own Indian SIM active with roaming, or use a temporary Indian number for a single OTP. The second option suits sign-ups, not accounts you will log back into.

How many digits is an Indian mobile number?

Ten digits after the country code +91.

Why does an app say my Indian number is invalid?

First check the format: ten digits, no leading 0, and no second 91 when +91 is already selected. If the format is right, the app is probably refusing that number range; another number or country helps more than retrying.

Can I get an Indian number for WhatsApp while living in the US?

Yes. A temporary Indian number can receive WhatsApp's code, but WhatsApp may ask for it again later, so for a long-term account use a number you keep.

Can I use a temporary Indian number for UPI or my bank?

No. Banks, payment and wallet apps are excluded, and they need a number that stays yours.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
