GuidesWhen the code does not arrive

No Bolt code? Rider sign-up fixes.

Bolt says its code can take up to a minute. After that, something is wrong.

No code? Your money comes back.

Bolt signs riders up and in with a code sent by text to their phone number. Bolt's own help says the code can take up to 60 seconds to arrive. If nothing has come after that, check the number you typed and your internet connection, then request a new code once. Because the number is your Bolt login, Bolt sends a new code on every new phone.

How Bolt verifies your number

The first screen of the Bolt app asks for your phone number. Bolt texts a code to it, and the number then identifies your rider account: the same number signs you in, and the same profile is used in Bolt Food.

Code not arriving: what to check

  1. Give it a minute Bolt says the code can take up to 60 seconds. Requesting another one before that only adds a second code to wait for.
  2. Check the number Look at the country code and every digit on the screen. A wrong number is the cause Bolt names first.
  3. Check the connection Bolt asks you to make sure your internet connection is stable. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if one is weak.
  4. Request a new code once Then wait the full minute again.
  5. Contact Bolt If you still cannot sign in, Bolt asks you to write to its local support e-mail, listed on its cities page.
What it usually means
Nothing after 60 secondsWrong number, or the text was dropped on the way
A 0 typed after the country codeThe number reads as a different one; remove the 0
Code refusedAn older code; use the most recent one

Why Bolt asks again on a new phone

For riders, the phone number is the way into the account. When you install the app on a new phone, reinstall it or log out, Bolt confirms it is you with a fresh code to the number on your account.

  • Changing your number works inside the app: Account → Profile, then enter the new number. Bolt texts a verification request to it, and the profile updates once you confirm.
  • Bolt Food follows: personal details changed in the Bolt app carry over to Bolt Food.
  • Do the change before the old number is gone. Afterwards you can only ask Bolt support.

Common questions

How long does the Bolt verification code take?

Bolt says up to 60 seconds. If it has not arrived after that, check the number and request one new code.

Why does Bolt send me a code every time I log in on a new phone?

Riders sign in with their phone number, and the code proves you still have that number.

Can I change the phone number on my Bolt account?

Yes. Go to Account → Profile and enter the new number. Bolt sends an SMS to the new number, and the change applies once you confirm it.

Is my Bolt Food account separate?

No. Details you change in the Bolt app are applied in Bolt Food too, and both use the same number.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
