BiP activation code: what to check, at home or abroad.

BiP is Turkcell's messenger, but your number does not have to be a Turkcell one.

No code? Your money comes back.

BiP activates your account with a code sent to your phone number by SMS, and its terms also allow a call. If the code does not arrive, check that the number is complete with the country code, that your phone can receive texts where you are, and wait before asking again. BiP's terms do not limit sign-up to Turkish numbers, but they do ask you to use your current number and re-register if it changes.

How BiP activates your account

BiP asks for your number on the first screen after you open it. By registering, you agree that BiP or a provider working for it sends verification codes by SMS and, where used, by phone call.

Code not arriving: what to check

What to do
Number typed without country codeChoose the country first; a Turkish mobile number is +90 followed by ten digits starting with 5
A 0 in front of the 5Drop it; the 0 is only for calls inside Turkey
Abroad with a Turkish SIMAllow roaming for texts; without it the SMS may not reach you abroad
Codes requested several timesStop and wait; repeated requests slow things down

Using BiP with a non-Turkish number

BiP comes from Turkcell, and many people know it from Turkish phones. Its terms of use, however, do not say that only Turkish numbers may register. They say features may differ depending on your region and your operator.

  • Living abroad, staying in touch: register BiP with the number you use day to day, Turkish or not.
  • Need a Turkish number for a Turkish service? That is a Turkish number, and the web app shows which services have one right now.
  • One-off codes only: BiP sends a new code when you move to another phone, and its terms expect your current number. For a BiP account you keep, use a number you keep.

Common questions

Why is my BiP activation code not arriving?

Usually an incomplete number, a 0 in front of the 5, no SMS roaming abroad, or too many requests in a row. Fix the number, wait, then ask once more.

Can I use BiP with a number from outside Turkey?

BiP's terms do not restrict registration to Turkish numbers. They note that features can vary by region and operator.

What happens to my BiP account if I change my number?

BiP's terms ask you to register again with the new number. Plan the move while you still have the old one.

Does BiP send the code by call?

BiP's terms allow codes by SMS and by phone call. Temporary numbers here receive texts only, so wait for the SMS.

How old do I have to be to register on BiP?

At least 13, according to BiP's terms. Where local rules set a higher age, that age applies.

No code, no charge

You do not pay for a number that brought no code. If nothing arrives, cancel the order in the app; the payment is refunded as soon as the cancellation is confirmed. While it is being checked, the amount stays reserved rather than spent.

Cancelling is possible after a short wait at the start of an order — a number needs a moment before it can be reached at all, and a cancellation in the first seconds would be refused anyway.

If a number has already received one code and you need a second one, you can ask for another SMS on the same number. That is a separate, chargeable attempt and it is not refunded even if no second code arrives; the app shows what it costs before you confirm. There is no subscription: you pay per number, never per minute and never per month.

What this is not for

Do not use these numbers for banks, payment services, wallets or crypto exchanges. Those are excluded — and an account resting on a number that is not permanently yours is an account you can lose. The same goes for anything you need access to for years: government portals, tax accounts, insurance. A temporary number is for a one-off confirmation, not a lasting key to something important.
